My current method involves a great deal of mark-making followed by many layers of acrylic paint and mixed media. The final layer consists of a mixture of oil paint and cold wax medium. The support I use is birch panel which affords me the opportunity of scratching, gouging and cutting into the surface of the work. This, along with the application of multiple layers of paint, adds substantially to the history of the painting through a lengthy process of layering, concealment and revelation.
